Is it okay to use this in a real interview or exam?
AceTheScreen is built for practice, presenting and accessibility. Many employers, schools and testing services prohibit outside assistance during live assessments. You are responsible for following the rules of any interview, exam or meeting you take part in — don't use it where it is not allowed.
What do I need to run it?
Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit), a microphone, and either an OpenAI API key (Free) or about 1 GB of disk space for a local model (Pro).
Where does my audio and text go?
Dictation is handled by Windows speech recognition, which may use Microsoft's online service depending on your Windows settings. Text is sent only to the AI provider you choose. With Pro's local AI, the AI step stays entirely on your PC. See our Privacy Policy.
Can the app hear remote participants in a meeting?
It listens to your Windows dictation input. To capture meeting audio, route it to that input with Stereo Mix or a virtual audio cable. In a room, the microphone picks up the audience directly.
How does the license work?
After subscribing you receive a license key by email. Paste it into the app and click Verify. One license works on up to 2 devices, and you can manage them from your account.
